Leatherheads, a film about the early days of pro football starring George Clooney, utilizes leather football helmets and “watermelon” leather footballs produced by Past Time Sports of Richardson, Texas. The company has been producing the leather helmets since 1996, which are sold at a variety of outlets that include the Pro Football Hall of Fame and College Football Hall of Fame. The helmets and footballs have been used in other film and documentary projects over the years. The movie opens Friday.
