Conlon Collection to be Sold?

John Rogers is embroiled in numerous legal battles with banks and business partners, not to mention charges of theft. But there is some positives for the hobby regarding the the former sports memorabilia and photo archive dealer.

During civil contempt proceedings against Rogers, a judge provided the go-ahead to sell the Charles Conlon collection of glass-plate negatives Rogers bought from the Sporting News in 2010. At the time, the collection numbered 8,300 pieces, but is now registered at 7,500 pieces. No one knows where the missing pieces ended up.

There are numerous claims to the ownership of the collection, including five people associated with Legendary Auctions, led by Doug Allen.

According to the report by Arkansas Business, the sale wouldn’t likely take place until this summer, with estimates the collection could bring $2 million.

Arkansas Business has a complete rundown of all the proceedings Rogers is currently involved in at the link provided above.
