The New York Post reports that autograph authenticator Donald Frangipani has filed a defamation lawsuit against HBO and “Real Sports” host Bryant Gumble for $5 million, claiming the show incorrectly tied him to an autograph forgery ring. The suit, filed in Manhattan federal court, accuses HBO show of “grossly irresponsible” and “biased” reporting in a “Real Sports” segment that piece described Frangipani as the “authenticator of choice” for the ring. The complaint says HBO reported that Frangipani signed off on “thousands” of fakes for the ring.
