Grey Flannel Debuts Another Stellar Set of Gamers, Rings and Signed Memorabilia

This time of year, a lot of people are looking for new apparel, either as gifts or as a treat for themselves for making it through another year. For the sports-minded fan and collector, something that looks great are jerseys, namely game-used jerseys.

One of the best sources in the sports auction market for game-used jerseys is Grey Flannel, and the company’s current Dec. 9 auction has plenty to choose from across the major sports at www.greyflannelauctions.com.

Heading the game-used jersey list is an Olympic hockey jersey, not from the 1980 Miracle on Ice, but Zach Parise’s Team USA jersey from the 2010 Olympics.

SpiritsOther hockey jerseys in the sale include Wayne Gretzky’s 1992-93 L.A. Kings road jersey, Joe Pavelski’s Team USA white jersey from the 2010 Olympics, Patrick Kane’s Team USA blue jersey from the 2010 Olympics, Brad Park’s 1974-76 N.Y. Rangers road durene tie-down jersey and Evgeni Nabokov’s 2008 San Jose Sharks black jersey.

In the baseball game-used jersey category, Derek Jeter leads the pack with a 2010 N.Y. Yankees signed road jersey and a 2009 Team USA World Classic road jersey. More premier lots in this category include a 1971 Pete Rose Cincinnati Reds signed road jersey, Ken Griffey Jr. 1989 rookie year Seattle Mariners home jersey, 1975 Reggie Jackson Oakland A’s road jersey and 2014 Madison Bumgarner S.F. Giants postseason signed road jersey. In all, there are more than 170 game-used baseball jerseys in the Grey Flannel auctions catalog.

The last regular season game jersey with the Green Bay Packers of Brett Favre will also be on the block, a game in which he tossed his 441st and 442nd career touchdowns.

Other highlights in the football jersey category include the 1961 Cleveland Browns road jersey of Lou Groza, 1967 Dallas Cowboys white jersey of Don Meredith, late 1970s Cowboys home jersey of Roger Staubach, 1987 L.A. Rams road jersey of Eric Dickerson and early 1970s Chicago Bears road jersey of Dick Butkus.

FavreNot to be outdone, Grey Flannel offers another round of stunning basketball game-worn apparel, led by a 1975-76 Don Chaney Spirits of St. Louis game-used ABA jersey. This will be joined by Ed Macauley’s 1953 NBA All-Star Game uniform, a worn shooting shirt from the 1967-68 Pittsburgh Pipers, Shaquille O’Neal’s 1992 LSU NCAA Tournament worn warm-up suit and George Gervin’s 1982 San Antonio Spurs home jersey.

Grey Flannel always has Michael Jordan game-used items on hand, and this sale will feature a 1996-97 Chicago Bulls road jersey and 1996 Bulls NBA Finals shooting shirt.

Sports memorabilia
Grey Flannel steps outside the game-used arena to offer a fine selection of championship rings and other sports memorabilia, as well.

One of the more interesting lots is the glove worn by Jeffrey Maier when he speared Jeter’s 1996 ALCS Game 1 home run from the outstretched arm of the Orioles Tony Tarasco. The glove sold earlier this year through Heritage Auctions for $22,705.

Other sports memorabilia highlights include Johnny Kerr’s 1991-92 Chicago Bulls NBA Championship ring, Tony Caldwell’s 1983 L.A. Raiders Super Bowl XVIII Championship ring, a 1927 N.Y. Yankees team-signed photo, 1951 NBA All-Star Game MVP Award trophy awarded to Ed Macauley and a set of wooden double seats from the original Madison Square Garden (1925-68).

These and hundreds of other lots, including game-used bats, signed baseball and political memorabilia, will be part of the Grey Flannel sale that ends Dec. 9. For more information, visit www.greyflannelauctions.com or call (631) 288-7800.
