Griffey Jr., Piazza to be Inducted into Baseball HOF

No surprise to anyone, Ken Griffey Jr. will be inducted into Cooperstown in 2016. The center fielder had the highest voting percentage to date at 99.3 percent, eclipsing Tom Seaver’s mark of 98.8 in 1992.

Joining Griffey Jr. in Cooperstown in July will be catcher Mike Piazza, who received 83 percent of the vote. Players must be listed on 75 percent of the 440 ballots cast.

Falling 15 votes shy of the 330 required for election was first baseman Jeff Bagwell, who tallied 71.6 percent. Tim Raines was next at 69.8, and Trevor Hoffman topped out at 67.3 percent.
