Lelands Puts a Bounty on Rare Cleveland Memorabilia

The National Sports Collectors Collection brings some of the greatest sports collectibles out of the woodwork for display and sale. Lelands is hoping to facilitate the process by putting together an impressive want-list – and an even bigger payout to anyone who walks through the doors with the goods.

In what is being dubbed the “Million Dollar Hit List,” Lelands listed what the company is looking for in Cleveland and how much they are willing to pay out.

milliondollarhitlistIn the category of game-worn Cleveland Indians jerseys, Lelands said it will pay up to $5 million for a Joe Jackson jersey and $1 million for a Cy Young jersey.

There’s a $500,000 price tag for Napoleon Lajoie and Tris Speaker jersys and $250,000 for Addie Joss and Satchel Paige. Six figures will also be paid for Bob Feller and Ray Chapman jerseys.

There is a stipulation that is stated: The jerseys must be in unrestored, excellent condition from their playing careers in Cleveland and in some cases, the jersey must be the home version.

Of course, Lelands will also take a look at any Cleveland memorabilia while at The National, but the price tags the company put on the jersey will surely get some attention by the mainstream media, which is one of the primary goals.

Sports memorabilia continues to brings huge prices these days, and the media is picking up on that. Here’s to more pre-show media hype leading to the big event.
