Complete Trading Card Sets Lined Up at Clean Sweep Auctions

It’s time to shake off the rust and get back bidding in the hobby. To help jump start the new year, Clean Sweep Auctions is currently conducting one of its finest auctions to date with loads of complete sets, high-grade singles and noteworthy autographs in every collecting niche.

According to Clean Sweep, “The baseball section of this auction is the best we have ever had, with a remarkable diversity of cards over a 100-year span. We have many rare prewar sets, extremely high-grade Topps sets and a world of regional issues.

“There are a remarkable 79 lots of just complete and near-complete sets, and then another 80 lots of great partial sets, group lots and collections that run the gamut and cover a great majority of popular card issues.”

With that, let’s get to the details.

Highlights
The auction kicks off with a remarkable 1911 T205 complete set with an overall grade condition of VG-Ex/Ex. Forty-six of the cards are graded in this fresh-to-the-market set.
Other complete sets to keep an eye on include 1912 C46 Imperial Tobacco, 1913 National Game, 1913 T200 (all PSA graded), 1928 W502, 1931 Metropolitan Studios Cardinals with original envelope, 1933 DeLong and 1933 Goudey. There are many more complete sets in the auction, such as the 1933 R337 Eclipse, 1935 Schutter Johnson and 1941 Goudey. Single, graded cards run from the late 19th century through the 1970s, with many rare, fine examples. A sampling includes a N172 Old Judge Tim Keefe SGC 2, 1895 Newsboy Cabinet Dave Foutz  PSA 3(MK), 1912 L1 Leather Walter Johnson, 1915 PM1 Ornate Frame Pins Johnny Evers, 1921 E121 Series 80 Babe Ruth Pitching SGC 3, 1933 Sport Kings Ty Cobb PSA 5.5, 1933 Sport Kings Walter Hagan PSA 8, 1953 Bowman Color Pee Wee Reese PSA 7, 1953 Glendale Meats Art Houtteman SGC 1.5 and 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente PSA 7.5.

Autographs
Another important category in the Clean Sweep auction is autographs, many on player documents. Examples in this category include Hank Aaron 1986 contract, Cap Anson 1918 contract, Home Run Baker’s last contract for 1921-22, Ted Lyon 1960 coach’s contract, Tony Perez 1980-82 player contract and an early-career Robin Yount signed player contract.

Other notable signatures include a Lloyd Waner signed Perez-Steele postcard, Roy Campanella signed Exhibit card, Willie Mays signed rookie Exhibit card, 1969 N.Y. Mets cut signature collection, Lou Gehrig cut signature framed display, Babe Ruth cut signature display, Ty Cobb GPC, Cy Young GPC, Roberto Clemente signed McCarthy postcard,  Thurman Munson single-signed ball, 1927 N.Y. Yankees team-signed ball, Satchel Paige single-signed ball and much more.

Another great piece in the auction is a 1965 game-used and signed Milwaukee Braves cap worn by Hank Aaron.
