Ruth Ball, Mathewson Contract and Curtis Ireland Candy Cobb Card Lead Huggins and Scott Sale

Huggins and Scott’s final Masterpiece Auction of 2011 begins on Nov. 21. Bidding is available until Dec. 1 with the 30-minute rule beginning at 11 p.m. eastern time.

The November auction features autographed highlights including a stunning Babe Ruth single-signed baseball PSA/DNA 6 (autograph grade 7); a 1925 Christy Mathewson signed players’ contract; beautiful 1970 Roberto Clemente signed letter on Clemente Day Letterhead; significant 1917 signed letter from Barney Dreyfuss to Billy Southworth with baseball content; beautiful Abraham Lincoln signed Cut BGS/JSA 8; wonderful 1933 New York Yankees team-signed baseball with Ruth and Gehrig; a unique Dizzy Dean signed Spalding glove originally obtained by Fred Lieb and much more.

Vintage card collectors will enjoy an abundance of 19th century and early 20th century rarities including examples of cards from Obak, T202, T205, T206, Goudey and Play Ball including the only graded E123 Curtis Ireland Candy Ty Cobb; several Obak T212 singles and groupings; and numerous complete and near sets from 1939-present.

Several postwar card highlights include an incredible collection of (8) 1955 Esskay Baltimore Orioles complete boxes; a collection of (10) high grade 1968 Topps 3D Test issues including Roberto Clemente as a NM 7; and a scarce 1964 Philadelphia Gum Football card uncut sheet.

Other phenomenal artifacts in this auction include a 10-lot collection from former Baltimore Orioles general manager Hank Peters, including a 1983 World Series Championship ring; the largest lot of college game-used jerseys ever offered (more than 1,300) including several current NFL players; game-used jerseys from Cal Ripken Jr., John Smoltz, Chase Utley, John Elway, Terrell Davis and more. As always, there is an incredible selection of PSA and SGC graded cards plus a substantial run of vintage baseball and football card complete sets.
