PSA Handing Out Free Babe Ruth Posters, SMRs at National

Free Babe Ruth posters and special editions of Sports Market Report (SMR) magazine will be given away by PSA at the 32nd annual National Sports Collectors Convention Aug. 3-7. Visitors to the PSA booth also will have a chance to win valuable sports collectibles.
The 24 -by-32-inch "Tribute to the Sultan of Swat" posters depict several superb Ruth sports collectibles, including a signed handprint of the Babe.
"The highlighted items are from the outstanding Twinight Collection, which is quickly becoming one of the finest overall collections in the hobby," said Joe Orlando, president of PSA.
The 184-page special edition of Sports Market Report is devoted to Chicago area sports legends and their collectibles, including Michael Jordan, Joe Jackson, Ernie Banks, Ryne Sandberg, Ron Santo, Frank Thomas, Bobby Hull and Walter Payton.  A 16-page insert in each magazine provides tantalizing highlights of this year’s PSA Set Registry winners.

Exhibits at the PSA and PSA/DNA booth will feature items from Don Spence’s Babe Ruth Master Set collection, including dozens of scarce, high-grade cards.  The display will also feature several of the actual items depicted on the Babe Ruth poster, such as the finest known singled-signed Ruth official American League baseball graded Mint + 9.5, and a 1927 Babe Ruth payroll check from  the New York Yankees.
Visitors to the booth can register for drawings of free sports collectibles that will be given away by PSA and PSA/DNA.  Among the prizes that lucky winners can receive are: 2003 Upper Deck Michael Jordan-signed card; Starlin Castro-signed bat; Ernie Banks-signed baseball; Brian Urlacher-signed football; Derrick Rose-signed basketball; 1970 Topps Bobby Hull card graded PSA 8; 1983 Topps Ryne Sandberg card graded PSA 9; 1990 Leaf Frank Thomas card graded PSA 10 and other certified sports collectibles that will be given as free prizes by PSA during the convention.

PSA will offer on-site card grading at the National, and a special discounted rate will be offered to submitters.  Information about PSA activities at the upcoming National and the special discount rates on submissions can be found online at
Because of the anticipated large number of cards that will be submitted to PSA at the National, collectors and dealers are encouraged to contact PSA Customer Service in advance at (800) 325-1121 or to reserve a grading placement.  Placements for grading at the National will be made on a first come, first serve basis.
