REA website server hacked, destroyed

Last Wednesday, a server being used by Robert Edward Auctions was hacked into and destroyed, which caused its site to go down for about 24 hours. Owner Rob Lifson issued an e-mail shortly after to notify his customers of the event.

According Lifson, he is unsure whether the hacking was targeted specifically at his auction site because the server hosted other sites, however, he said there’s very little on the server other than his company and an investigation is underway.

"All we know is somebody did this on purpose, but it could have been a random thing," said Lifson. "We really don’t know. I have nothing to go on. What I can say is that it was an intentional, criminal, deliberate act."

REA’s site has since been restored back to normal. The website can be found at www.robertedwardauctions.com and bidding for its current sale can be placed through May 5.
