A Michael Jordan Fleer rookie card, Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson
single-signed balls and a Beatles-signed record album top a list of items up for bid in Coach’s Corner’s Sports and Celebrity Auction, which is scheduled to end on July 21.
Bidding is currently live on the auction house’s website. Overall, there are more than 3,500 items for sale.
The lead items are a 1986-87 Fleer Jordan rookie card, graded at Gem Mint 10, a Ruth single-signed Official American League baseball, a Johnson-signed International League baseball and a copy of the Beatles “Abbey Road” album cover signed by each of the “Fab Four.”
Also high on the auction list is a 1937 American League All-Star team autographed bat (a 1931 Louisville Slugger Hinkley model professional bat) with 17 members of the team on it, including Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, Charlie Gehringer and Joe DiMaggio.
Other signed bats include a Gehrig-signed Louisville Slugger and a Mel Ott signed Louisville Slugger.
Other signed baseballs offered in this auction include a Frank Chance Amateur League ball, a William Harridge signed ball, a pre-accident Roy Campanella ball, a 1979 World Series ball signed by Maris and Mantle, three Mantle-signed ScoreBoard baseballs, a 500 Home Run Hitters baseball with 12 signatures and a Triple Crown winners signed baseball with Ted Williams, Mantle, Carl Yastrzemski and Robinson.
This auction features cut signatures, books, pictures and signed photos, including a Josh Gibson cut, Pud Galvin cut, Ruth-signed 1930s book, a Roberto Clemente signed and framed poster, Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonds and Willie Mays signed litho, Wayne Gretzky framed and matted oil painting signed by the hockey great and the artist, a framed golf legends painting signed by more than 30 PGA pros and a certified Roger Maris signed and framed photo.
Also on the docket are a Mantle signed 16-by-20 picture, an Eddie Plank signed 1915 vintage photo, a photo of Red Grange and Bronko Nagurski which is signed by both, a 23-by-32-inch Yankee framed display signed by more than 25 Yankees players including Joe DiMaggio, Mantle, Reggie Jackson and Bill Dickey, and a Christy Mathewson cut.
Other signed uniforms, memorabilia and equipment pieces include a Derek Jeter signed Majestic Yankees home uniform jersey, Wade Boggs signed 1985 Red Sox jersey, three Ben Roethlisberger signed footballs and an NFL quarterbacks lot of three signed helmets from Tom Brady, Dan Marino and Roethlisberger.
Among the cards in the auction are a 1909-11 T206 John J. McGraw card graded 9.5, a complete 1932 Sanella Sportscard set including Babe Ruth, the complete 1954 Red Man 40-card American Indian Chiefs set, a 1957 Swift Meats Junior Gilliam card graded GEM 98, a 1975 Topps rack pack with a George Brett rookie card showing on the back, a 1980-81 Topps Magic Johnson/Larry Bird rookie card and a lot of 20 deceased Hall-of-Famer-signed Gold postcards, including Bill Dickey, Ted Lyons, Bob Lemon, Catfish Hunter, Ray Dandridge and Stan Coveleski.
From the art and entertainment world comes a Judy Garland signed film promo photo, a Mamas and the Papas signed record album, a signed piece of 1973 Peter Max artwork, a signed Jim Morrison Doors record album, a Beatles-signed publicity 8-by-10 and an Elvis Presley signed 8-by-10.
Also up for auction are John Hancock’s signature on a piece of parchment-like paper, a hand-signed hardback book bearing Herbert Hoover’s signature, a Dwight D. Eisenhower signed hardback book, a Ulysses S. Grant cut and a 3-by-4-foot painting of Napoleon by pop artist Stephen Kauffman.
