Rashaan Salaam Heisman Trophy sells for record price

The original Heisman Trophy presented to Rashaan Salaam in 1994 sold for $399,608 in an auction hosted by SCP Auctions. The auction ended Jan. 20.

The trophy was sold by Tyler Tysdal, a longtime sports collector who is a Denver-based real estate and private equity investor. In memory of Salaam, Tysdal and his family intend to donate all net proceeds from the sale of the trophy to the National Institute of Health to support research on athletes’ medical conditions, which includes brain injuries and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
