Philip Weiss has a nice selection of sports memorabilia lined up for its Sept. 21 sale. Among the offerings are a 1934 Goudey set, uniformly graded PSA 7, a championship ring belong to Bart Giamatti, a complete 1952 Topps Baseball set and items signed by Babe Ruth.
Vintage baseball cards still rule the market, as evidenced by a $125,332 sale price for a 1934 Goudey No. 37 Lou Gehrig card (SGC 10) and $51,450 for a 1916 Famous & Barr No. 151 Babe Ruth rookie card VG PSA 3. Both sold in SCP Auctions latest sale that topped $2.2 million.
The SCP Auctions sale is just two days into bidding, yet there are some impressive bids for a 1934 Goudey Lou Gehrig Gem Mint 10 (the only example on the market) and a 1996 Green Bay Packers championship ring.
