Sam Snead’s tournament used driver, part of more than 100 victories for the legend, leads the offerings of Heritage Auctions’ Sept. 25-26 sale, along with the Bob Burkett Collection of Early Golf Memorabilia featuring the only Bobby Jones’ trophy in private hands, from the 1916 Cherokee Country Club Invitational.
Sam Snead’s 1949 Masters Championship Trophy realizes $143,400, and his 1969 Ryder Cup Captain’s Trophy sells for $131,450 during Heritage Auctions’ Dec. 6-7 sale in Dallas.
Golf cards are getting a shot in the arm thanks to an upcoming set produced by Leaf Trading Cards. Offered in January will be Legends of the Links featuring cut signatures and actual tournament-used, signed scorecards from some of the biggest stars of the game.
Heritage Auctions will offer the second part of the Sam Snead Collection. The first sale brought $1.1 million in August, with this round featuring Snead’s 1949 Masters Championship Trophy and 1951 Ryder’s Cup Captain’s Trophy.
