Heritage Auctions released its annual sales totals, which reached $20 million in sports and $860 million in sales company-wide across all of its divisions. In sports, the lead story was the Black Swap Find that general national media attention for its back story and the cards themselves.
Greg Bussineau wrapped up 2012 with a $1.1 million sale that featured high prices for rare singles, complete sets and key cards needed for those PSA Set Registry sets.
Heritage Auctions is used to big sports memorabilia sales. The October auction is one of the companies largest in size, and highlights include a Mickey Mantle game-used All-Star bat, a ticket to Fenway’s grand opening and A 1973 Tom Seaver game-used jersey.
Bidding for Collect Auction ends Thursday, Aug. 9. More than 900 lots are up for grabs, from a Babe Ruth 11-by-14 signed photo to a 1910 E103 Williams Caramel Honor Wagner card (PSA 2). Every sport and many non-sport items are featured.
